What is the proper method for accurate adjustment?
The primary check is for full travel from park to the opposite end of the shift pattern. Then verifying that all forward gear positions are in a relaxed condition is recommended. From PPP FAQs |

Had this exact problem with one I worked on. PPP showed less than z-e-r-o interest...never returned multiple calls, emails, etc. Tossed the junk original spring and sourced some spring stock from McMaster Carr. After a bit of tinkering with spring length and preload...problem solved. -Al

![]() ![]() I also considered the M&M and Motion Raceworks shifters which are available for both 2 and 3 speed trans, both very nice and made in the USA. Last edited by 1320racer; 07-10-2024 at 01:19 PM. |

The side plates on your PPP shifter are worn out. Replace the side plates and it will work as advertised. I know because that happened to my shifter.

I'm fighting a similar issue with the shifter hitting 3rd but the trans is not fully engaged. PPP solution was to lube the cable(which I did) or get a longer cable. The PPP seems to be sensitive to the bends in the cable.
