Overall it was a great show. Always love seeing S/SS on TV. And the car looked super cool!
I had a couple of those wheel stands at the class national. Go straight, go straight , go straight! At about half track thinking I better tighten the front a couple turns.

It was a fun project and I think it turned out well. I spent considerable time with the production team over the months leading up to the event so they understood the classes, licensing requirements, Factory Showdown, etc.
The Cobra Jet used is actually an SS car with the 4.0l supercharger but I think we did a good job of keeping the ETs close and building drama. Kudos to Ron and his team for making the long trek to Florida! They originally wanted to shoot at Pomona but that did not allow time for licensing resulting in a Long haul for the Challenger. Setting the car up for the big wheel stand was a gutsy call that made for good tv.

I had spoken to several people (including you) for a long time trying to arrange a match race but it took a TV show like Top Gear to "get-er-done". We also spent a good amount of time with the production crew arranging the shoot - after I explained why Pomona would not work - we tried for Las Vegas but settled on Gainesville. It worked out well - NHRA - the new factory race cars - and our kind of racing got some great exposure. Ron

I got to ask. How in the world did they get you to let those guys drive your car? From watching their show once in a while, I wouldn’t let those guys borrow a wheelbarrow.
It was great to see some S/SS cars on the show. |
