Default Is this allowed NHRA Stock????

I am working on a new car for Stock, and was wandering if I can take my 90 Mustang 2.3 auto daily driver and enter the first, or maybe the first two divisional races to get my grade points, and entry points? My new car should be ready sometime in April, but hate to miss the start of the season since the races are close to home. i really dont think the daily driver can run the index, actually doubt it will be within 2 seconds of the index, but still, thinking it would at least be fun.

Interesting.
I would think if the car meets the requirements for your class in Stock, and your dial in on the first round of the race is the class index , I couldn't see why it would not work.

Just make sure it has all the required mods ( i.e. driveshaft loop, helmet, etc.)

copy-n-paste from the rulebook:

DRIVELINE
Aluminum driveshaft prohibited except OEM. Carbon fiber
driveshaft prohibited. Driveline loop mandatory in all rear-wheeldrive
cars. See General Regulations 2:4.

i believe that if the car is still in 100% street legal form, as in catalitic converters still being used, where you have to use unleaded fuel, i do not think any unleaded fuel will pass fuel check, not sure if you have to pass tech or actually make a legitimate qualifying run to earn any points, Dave Ley a little help here thanks

This depends on what division and who's the director at the time.
Some you have to qualify and get on the ladder..
Some you just pay the tab.
You'd think it would be a uniform procedure, but it may still not be..
First hand experience...

Yes, it depends who you are and where you are. In 2000, I tried to get a rental car to get a grade point. Was told "the car must make a run, pass fuel check and get on the sheet. No street cars allowed". Later that SAME year, another person did it at least TWO, maybe THREE times, with a street vehicle, and was permitted to do so--in the SAME DIVISION as me. Three seconds over the Index. Guess being a nobody doesn't grant you the same privileges as others.

Thanks guys, I will check with the div. office to make sure. I am not worried about the Gartors this year, but we are making the transition from heads up racing to Stock or Super Stock. We have one car almost done that will easily fit in GT/JA, and my project stocker is coming along nicely. My 18yo son will more than likely do the driving till both cars are done, and he has not been on the track since mid last year when we lost the motor in his N/A 10.5 NMCA car.

You only need one grade point to enter just about any National Event (exceptions would be limited to D1 and possibly Norwalk or Chicago) so are you just trying to get a grade point for the Gators?

In Div 2 in the past. You just have to get thru tech. I did it a few years ago with my PT Cruiser. Failed fuel check but got the grade point.
Call the division office and see if that has changed.
