I haven't seen the published minimum weights for the FSC, but what do they compare to, in a traditional Stock class? Example, min wt in FSC for a '12 COPO 427/425 (or any of the FSC combinations), is it close to BB weight? CC? In between? Just wondering. Either way, 8.99 is pretty darn quick for a naturally aspirated motor at 3,000+ pounds. It wasn't THAT long ago (spring 2001) that the first nine (9) second Stocker run was made. Now, a mere twelve years later, we have about ten-twelve cars with EIGHT second runs to their credit. Would have made for a decent head start if I still had the HF/SA car

David broke out in Rd. 3 - dialed 8.92 and ran 8.907@148.71. Incredible performance by David and his team!

Barton was at 3350 min....here's what NHRA announced earlier..

FS/AC: Minimum weight up to 400 cid, 3,250 pounds; 401 to 450 cid, 3,350 pounds; 10.50 index
FS/DC: Minimum weight 451-plus cid, 3,200 pounds; all supercharged, 3,500 pounds; 10.20 index

Announced by the NHRA on March 27:

FS/AC: Minimum weight up to 400 CID 3250Lbs, 401 to 450 CID 3350Lbs, index 10.50

FS/DC: Minimum weight 451 + CID 3200Lbs, all supercharged 3500Lbs, index 10.20

According to the NHRA Classification Guide, David's car has a factor of 7.11 which makes it a "natural" BB car, minimum weight 3200 lbs, on a 10.30 index. That means he was 150 lbs heavy, but he was running on a 10.50 index instead of the 10.30 BB index. No matter how you look at it; that car is scary fast!

Hmmm... A 2012, 427/425-445 COPO Camaro. In BB/SA, it weighs 3,285 pound minimum weight. 10.30 Index, so any run of 9.100 or quicker results in a penalty.

In FS/AC, It will weigh 3,350 pounds. 10.50 Index. And NO penalty via the AHFS.

Let's see...add sixty-five pounds...get a two-tenths softer Index...and the ability to run as fast as you want, with no AHFS penalty.

Yeah...I'd run the FSCS too...lol.

Not a knock on David (or anyone in FSCS) for doing what they do. That is flying at 8.90. Without a blower, too! Wonder how close other cars were to AA, BB etc weight.

Mike, where are you getting your 3285 minimum weight. The Guide shows 3200 lbs. (7.11X450HP=3199.5 lbs.) BB is 7.00 - 7.49, to run at the class minimum weight; he would weigh 3150 lbs (7.00X450HP=3150 lbs.)

You have to add 170 for the driver, a 426 Drag Pack would be 3320 in BB, so 30 lbs less for .2 harder index. Mike was talking about the 427 COPO though.

I know about adding 170 lbs for the driver, but even with that; the numbers weren't making any sense. However, I didn't realize that Mike was referring to a COPO; attribute that to a "senior moment".

That car is impressive for a N/A "stocker". Seems to me like it would have to make 800hp or a little more.
