That's cool as heck! But how did it compare to the Edelbrock intake?

Jeff... You didn't watch the video ? !

Here are the basic numbers:

Stock intake ( dotted line ..... )
torque 438.5 @ 3500 RPM
horsepower 389.9 @ 5400 RPM ( 387.7 @ 5300, 387.6 @ 5500, 385.6 @ 5600, 383.4 @ 5700 )

Performer RPM intake ( broken line _ _ _ _ _ )
torque 448.7 @ 4200 RPM
horsepower 424.8 @ 5700 RPM ( 422.9 @ 5500, 424.3 @ 5600, 424.5 @ 5800, 423.9 @ 5900, 423.0 @ 6000, 421.8 @ 6100 )

Speed-Port 6000 intake ( solid line _______ )
torque 466.6 @ 4200 RPM
horsepower 465.8 @ 5800 RPM ( 464.8 @ 5600, 465.4 @ 5700, 465.7 5900, 465.7 @ 6000, 464.9 @ 6100, 464.4 @ 6200, 464.0 @ 6300 )

My sinlge plane intake held an AVERAGE HP of 412.... 37 AVERAGE HP more than Edelbrock.
Torque was an AVERAGE of about 18 ft lb more.

The amazing thing was 76 horsepower more than a stock intake.
Holy $&#%, is the stock intake a piece of crap !

No, didn't watch the video. That aside, that's pretty dang impressive! About now I'll bet Edelbrock is saying they should make one so sell as many as you can and recoup your investment. And I'm really curious about that, how much $ do you have invested (aside from probably countless hours)?

I was looking at adapting a SBC or Mopar B Victor type intake to my AMC when I was pursuing Super Stock. I don't see that happening. I spoke to Edelbrock and I was left with the impression they would build one but that's been two years now so I guess they don't have a real interest in the project.

Now that you have a killer intake, turn that 409 into a SS!

Thank YOU, Jeff... at least now, you might have a better understanding as to why I don't have enough money to make my Stocker better !
Super Stock ?
Oh yes, it occurred to me. Just can't though. Rust free, original pint, inner and outer wheel wells... no WAY would I cut them ! Even if I got it to work on the 9" tire, I still would have to change rear end.
naaah. gotta get that out of my head

I need to sell about 120 of them, and donate my 300 hours of machining... in order to get to the "break even" point.

If I can get a couple dozen in the hands of prominent builders, racers and rodders... I think I'll be OK ( as long as the large port works as well ).
So far, I do have THE two major W block builders buying one right now, and wanting to sell them.
It'll never be a money making venture.

Smile Re: I Made an Engine Part !

Aubry, I watched the video and I am impressed. You had to run a 409! You couldn't have run a 327, 350 or 400 small block Cheverolet. The reason I mention those engines, is because you would have a large market of Chevy guys to sell the intake manifold to.

I always loved the 1962 Chevrolet 409, 425 HP engines. Back in 1962, they were really hot!

When I first started racing in 1968, you almost always had to make everything yourself. Traction bars, rims were narrowed to 4" to accomodate the 7" slicks we use to have to run. And the list goes on and on...

From what you accomplished, I would bet you could build other in demand intake manifolds. The larger speed shops could sell the hell out of them. You need to try to contact Jegs, and Summit to see if they would be interested in your product. I am sure there is a market for your intake manifolds!

Don't forget the big block Chevrolet engines!

Thank, John... Yes, I did inquire at Summit.
WOW... I send them a non-returnable sample. If they don't market it, they still keep the sample.
uuuuuuuuuhhhh.... not in this lifetime !
Market is too small. I hope to sell 2-4 units a month.. if I'm lucky.

To the guys who said to the effect, "this is hot rodding"...
I take that personally, as the highest compliment... it DOES take the sting out of the poverty !

Chris... dayum... I can't even think of what to say to that !
thanks, man

see... I KNEW you guys would "get it" !
