As far as discrimination, the one avenue that maybe viable is the pros get free admission into national events and sportsman have to pay.
There was a thread about members signing away the right to vote for board members. It happened supposedly way back in the 70's I believe.

Lawsuits are fine and dandy if you have the financial resources AND backing of the membership. Sadly you can't get three racers to agree on any given issue. Everybody has an agenda. The only way to beat them is voting with your feet. No one shows up enough times they get the message. The best scenario would be to drag them down to the point they lose enough money to make them bail out and have someone stepup who has a plan to save the sport. It will take plenty of moolah and determined parties to bring the sport back to any degree of health. I still say we're not in a car culture society us older guys are familiar with. Some change is needed but that's where the agendas step in. Nomex underwear fitted, flame away.

Only the board had a vote as of 1981 I think. And I think Ed is right; you can't get 3 racer to vote alike because everyone has an agenda. I got an agenda. Billy Nees got a different agenda, Bruce Noland got a different agenda, and Matt Hagen got a different agenda. Maybe we should race agendas. A/AG. How's that sound.

That sounds about right. We (supposedly) relinquished our "right-to-vote" then.

This probably happened just before they killed off Modfied Production.

Yep. I don' t know if the numbers have changed, but not too long ago, they paid for every space over one space per car. It was $2,000 per space for part-timers and $1,500 per space for those committed to run the full national event schedule. DSR and JFR pay a bunch of money for their support vehicle and hospitality spaces.

Anybody know if the IRS came down with a ruling on this? I sure wish I could pull in $770K for doing something I loved to do.
Wonder if the RICO Act would apply to these cretins? They could probably teach organized crime a few tricks.

Ed, I seriously doubt the IRS even bothered. Think about the timing of the complaint, and who it was addressed to.
