Not sure how much thought or planning went into this,, Brett and Daren I'm sure you can tell them how all COPOs are not created equal. He might not be aware. My 2 cents.

Some of these cars went to guys who are doing other things with them (NMCA, etc.). It may be that they are trying to do something for them too?

Yes I am aware of the different COPO combos but as mentioned there is a few that are not class legal now like Keith's car which is a 427 car but has nitrous on it and I know of at least 2 more that have changes that makes them illegal for class racing. I think a big blower car and a nitrous 427 could be a very interesting race! Do we have anyone else that would be interested In coming to this event I know a lot of you already have this year planned but we would like this to happen just seems interest is a little light.thank you guys for your input

Ok,, I see what you're saying. I understand about the concerns with the class legal racers regarding NA cars vs "enhanced" cars, and why they'd be hesitant to participate in the heads up portion of the program. As far as NMCA and outlaw type rides, I guess you have a plan in place to give those racers a fair shot of winning.
Good luck with the event.

I have to wonder why a legal NA car would want to run a blown car heads up.

PB,
I think you mean Copo shootout, COBRA JET Showdown, and then Indy! I kid, I kid, but we do like to see the Candies trailers roll in.
Per Brett's request the CJ rules were amended this year to take into account being over the minimum weights to make it more fair.

On a serious note, it's tough to get the cars equal for a shootout. And as the years go by the gap widens between cars of even the same engine combo as some stay stock and some get WAY faster!

To the original poster, feel free to message me if you've got any questions on how or why we've done the CJ showdown over the last few years.

Jesse, you know we would not miss the Cobra jet Shootout. Where would we go to have heads up racing and have some great fun with great racers.

I don't see an invitation to your lil fat buddy down here? I learned how to take a shower last year, and I bring my own beer.
