The 1965 273/235 HP Darts, Cudas,Valients came with 8 1/4 rears. The 1966 "D" dart came with an 8 3/4 rear. NHRA would NOT allow the Golden Commandos to use the 8 3/4 rear in F/S in their 1965 Cuda in 1965. AHRA did allow it. The Golden Cammandos ran some M/Production in NHRA later in the year so they could use the larger/stronger rear.

Paul - Quick question. Since the D/Dart would have to race as a SuperStock car today, what class would it be in and what would it have to run?
The reason I am asking is, yesterday I looked at a real D/Dart that was an old race car (mini tubed, SS springs relocated, fuel cell, no inner fenders) and would make a good SS car. Alan |

Well since this thread is over 2 years old, I was wondering what ever happened to this D-Dart everyone was talking about. Does the owner still have it or has it moved on, and is this the same car or not.

Is this the same D Dart as pictured above, and that is mentioned in the original post.

I still own Ted's old car. It's painted candy apple red and white mother of pearl --- lacquer. So it's showing it's age. Only 367 miles on the odo. I'll have to look for a picture of how it looks today. Came close to buying another one on Sunday, but it was a little too much for what it was. It would have been a good start as a SS project. Any info on what SS class a D/Dart would run today and what times it would have to turn to be competative? I know that the info is on this site somewhere. |

Alan,
The D-Dart 273/275 HP still is rated at 275 HP by the 'good ole NHRA'. In stock class, it would be placed in F/Stock In Super Stock,,,,,,SS/J. Really, the only item on this car in Super Stock different than a basic 273/235HP is the Holley carburetor,,,,, Why not legal for NHRA Stock Class,,,,,,NHRA said, 'only 50 were built' ????? pc |
