Was told by a someone who worked for VP and then Insinger that plastic fuel jugs are temporary fuel containers. The plastic jugs are porous, leading to the fuel not passing fuel check. He said it will be ok for the weekend, but not long term. Maybe others have heard this also.

Correct on temporary usage. The darker the jug the better. But not a fix all. Steel pails or drums of fuel are the best way to store

Use plastic jugs exclusively for holding ethanol free gas for pit bike and lawn mower or get extra diesel fuel on the rare instance it find it priced reasonably. Worth it to pay the extra for pails, a DQ once was all it took to learn my lesson.

I use the jugs from AI13 (their nozzles are outstanding) and I store fuel in them long term and still pass fuel check.

I use the metal can that comes with VP. Try to avoid pushing the spout in and out, it will crack.

The fuel jugs from Renegade Race Fuels are very thick and heavy duty. And square so they line up nicely.

Sun light rays penetrating through the jugs and hydrocarbons do not play well. Use caution.

I store diesel fuel prob 3-4 month at a time in yellow jugs purchased at Rural King. These are identical to a Mr. Gasket jug I bought thru Jeg's. We live in a pretty rural area and like to keep fuel around (20-30 gals) in case the store 8 miles away runs out. Next one is 20 miles. No problems with leaks yet.

Bought VP jugs 20 years ago and they are still good. Wonder who made them? They should have kept the old supplier.
