I wasnt going to say anymore. I wasnt goint to ramble. But Len actualy responded. Since he opened up the can of worms, here we go....... First, thanks for responding. If someone is willing to get into this, it means maybe there is some hope. (yeah right, did i say that?) Sure, the terrible weather had an effect on everyones weekend. But did top fuel, funny car or pro stock get told "we dont have enough time to give you a time run". The fact that there was no time run from SG, SC, Super Stock and especialy comp is absurd. Thankfully i am not one of those classes, but only becasue stock is first out usually. Did mother nature come down and say 'no time runs' or was it graham light? Not only that, but a lot of people came a long way for this race, and the truth is even if the fans are in the stands for hte pros, it has a much smaller effect on the pros to stay until monday. That is their job and their life, and one more day at the track is not nearly as big of a deal to them. Hell, they are going to just head to Sonoma and stay there so whats the difference. First round of stock was run directly after the final round of funny cars, the last pro final to run. I had to park my car in the field and pay for parking. Yet lots of those toterhome guys, the ones that you saved spots for up in the good parking lot, by the golf carts everyone was complainging about, they had all kinds of people parked with them, there was like 8 cars parked over there. So you saved them better parking, even though i got in line a week before the god damn event, and you let all their buddies into the pits to park. If you tell me this has nothing to do with you, all i can say is well if you arent complaining about it too, and working to make things better for us, even if it gets you in trouble, than you really dont care. So ... specificaly..... Why did you save a ****load of room for Justin Lamb, Biondo, Fletcher, Turner, etc. ??? I'm supposed to show up early to ensure a good spot, and i did, and i was still down in Egypt. How can you justify no time run? If it takes until monday or tuesday (like it did) because of thetime run, i think most would be fine with that. I wasn't going to rable on, or say anything else but well... Len... you waving it off as just blaming the weather really pissed me off. |

Speaking of.... I probably would. But i've never met Stan. I dont know him, so i wouldn't recognize him. So i've probably met him and didnt realize... Heck... someone told he was hanging out with Bowdish's and they were pitted accross from me at Woodburn. I even raced Bowdish in stock there (and beat him). He never said hi or anything. I would like to talk to him sometime. Stan if you read this.. come say introduce yourself! Or someone tell him to come say hi sometime! Last edited by Sean Kennedy; 07-24-2007 at 03:03 AM. I wasn't there this weekend but I've been to a few races, including a few at that track. I've been to races that rained out and were run on Monday plus some that were run the next weekend. That's part of the game. Even Wally and Graham haven't learned how to control the weather. How did Jody and Eric manage to cope with it?
No doubt the pit situation sucked, it often sucks and it most frequently sucks at some of the events that are too big for the facility such as this one. If you attend the U.S. Nationals, are pitted in the north lot, and there are 50,000 Gomers carrying plastic goody bag standing in your way on the way to the staging lanes you'll be lucky to make it with the water temperature under 200. You learn to carry a sprayer, a small generator, and a battery charger and you deal with it. Pit parking people are often difficult to deal with because they have the power to put you where they want and your only power is to hook up and leave. The guys with the big rigs and the sponsor power get parking preference. We've all seen it, most of us have bitched about it at one time or another, but it never changes. Money talks. It's not my job to apologize for NHRA or that track but I think that this was just another bad situation that didn't get better from Friday until Monday, not a vendetta against any category or social caste. It's not a bad idea to wait until you really get hosed before you unload on the system. There are a lot worse deals than a rainy weekend in a cramped facility with a few parking-****s. To quote Dennis Miller, "It's just my opinion, I could be wrong." Cheers, c |

When the "fun meter" hit zero, we quit attending Nat'l Events; unfortunately the meter seems to be falling at Divisionals as well....doesn't get much better than Pat's-run SportsNationals.... a racer who understands and appreciates his customers.

I never knew there were so many cry babies in the racing world, all your mommas should be proud. It rained, and you can't race in the rain, duh.Len, I'm sorry but don't take these guys word that everbody got screwed, i'll bet you would pay them $1000.00 cash per hour if they could make it not rain. Maybe you guys should take up figure skating, you bunch of wusies.

Wow, another brilliant post from another no name. were you there? do you even race? unless you walked in someone elses shoes, you have no idea if that person has reason to complain or not. Doesn't necessarily mean they are crybabies.JMT.

Sean, you need to grow up and get yourself a "Role Model". This is not the first time you have acted like an ignorant *** in public and you are devolping a poor reputation! I can site a few if you would like. Have you ever given any thought to why Stan Hawes has never come over and introduced himself? This just shows how mentally weak of a person you are if you get tense enough to disrespect a gentleman like Len over a bad parking spot and a rain delayed schedule. Why don't you shut your mouth and go put together about 50 Championships like Justin Lamb, Peter Biondo, Dan Fletcher and Jeff Lane the people you mentioned and maybe you will earn some respect and get a "good" parking spot. If you need any other life coaching tips go ahead and send me an e-mail and I will do all I can!
Tommy Gaynor tommy@gaynors.com P.S. I won the 2006 Seattle National Event last year from a "Bad Parking" spot. |

I'm with Randall on the "fun meter" thing.
Ironically "racing fan", you seem to be able to whine and use your term "wusies" pretty freely for a guy that WUSED OUT and didn't use their REAL NAME. Jerry |

It's not just the Nationals, at the recent divisional at Lebanon Valley, bad weather came in and washed out the latter half of the first day. The run order was S/ST, STK, SG, SS, S/C, Comp (or something similar to that.) The weather started looking bad and S/ST ran (ok no problem) The radar showed a huge cell coming our way, so we run stock next right? NO we run Top Sportsman and Top Dragster!!! Two non-NHRA classes took our runs during a divisional points meet!!! If our time was taken by comp or some other NHRA class it wouldn't have been so bad, but this. And they got their third TT the next day too. So it's not just the Nationals, its the whole NHRA (dis)organization.
