Ed is right, the higher u get the slower you will go. If the car keeps going up without moving forward you lose et.

This wheelie didn't make our car quicker ET wise but it was fun! Also, the higher up you go there is also the issue of how to get the car to settle down and still make a good 1-2 shift with the four speed.

I would say springs are problem,6 cyl worn out springs, when jack the car up I'm going to guess the springs almost or do become loose,if that is the case front end extends and you run out of spring, they don't have any stored energy, when you pull engine probaly does'nt raise front of car all the way up against the stops.
You want springs that have to be compressed quite a bit to end install, but soft enough to let car down to ride height you want, like the moroso's Then if you wheelie to big you can adjust, one thing is can raise starting line rpm sometimes and wheelie less,by puttting controled spin on at the hit. How much pinion angle do you have? More angle the better the wheelie.

I knew it!!!
Thanks for all the input fellas...I realize small ones are faster, this thread wasn't meant to be real serious, just wanted to get some ideas and be sure I'm not leaving something obvious on the table. I think areas for improvement are launch rpm, front springs, and clutch setup first. No data logger yet, just a playback tach and videos for clutch guessing. |

So long as the small wheelstand transfers enough weight to hook up the maximum amount of power and clutch, and does it both consistently and reliably.

I think there is a big difference in a stick car and an automatic. An automatic likes to dead hook and if a stick car does that it usually pulls the motor down, although I've seen Jason McCormack do some huge wheelies. Our cars run faster when they leave with the wheels up in the air pretty good.
