Yes, it depends who you are and where you are. In 2000, I tried to get a rental car to get a grade point. Was told "the car must make a run, pass fuel check and get on the sheet. No street cars allowed". Later that SAME year, another person did it at least TWO, maybe THREE times, with a street vehicle, and was permitted to do so--in the SAME DIVISION as me. Three seconds over the Index. Guess being a nobody doesn't grant you the same privileges as others.

Thanks guys, I will check with the div. office to make sure. I am not worried about the Gartors this year, but we are making the transition from heads up racing to Stock or Super Stock. We have one car almost done that will easily fit in GT/JA, and my project stocker is coming along nicely. My 18yo son will more than likely do the driving till both cars are done, and he has not been on the track since mid last year when we lost the motor in his N/A 10.5 NMCA car.

As of last year here in D2 you could show up to tech to get your grade point, then go home.

As long as you paid your entry fee & passed, you could race or just load & leave.

I just confirmed with the boss man....Car must be on site to purchase a tech card, car must pass tech. After that do what you please! Just make sure all safety gear is up to date, helmet etc....present with the car.

Thanks again, I called the division tech director and he explained to me what we had to do to actually race, or we can simply enter, go through tech and be good. We are thinking about trying to race at least first round. We are going to make a pas with the car this weekend to see how far off the index we will be, spoke to a friend who has almost the identical car and he told me his was faster than we thought. As long as we have fun I dont really care, as the new car is coming along nice and he will run a few races with it before moving up to the Comp car....

I was in the same boat once. In 2009 I entered my 95 Camaro daily driver, had to have the class and car number on it. Was told not to make a pass as I would not pass fuel check. This was in Div. 3. I would double check with your Div. director though.

Karen , All Stockers (rental cars or not) are required to have a drive shaft loop and possibly long wheel studs to pass tech, correct?

Used to be in Div 5 you could tech somebody eles car as long as you did not race it. again check with you div person and make sure the guys in tech are on the same page. Why would not take some ones money for no where a tear on anything, just take the tech card and money. But then again you can't fix stupid. Tom

When we first got the MegaManiac I drove it in Altanta, and Drooze drove my Pacifica (while listening to my Neil Diamond CD for the whole 23 second run) and we both got our grade points that day. That was in 2010.

Just wondering here cause I dont know for sure. But do front wheel drive cars have to have driveshaft loops. And I think as long as the stud is threaded into the nut the width of the stud (IE 1/2 inch diameter stud has to be threaded 1/2 inch into the lug nut) you would be OK. So a front wheel drive rental maybe would work if its in the guide????
