Yes, Mike Keown has been building my motors for years and gives me all the power I need. Need to learn how to set up stick suspension. Only have 37 runs on combination. Had great time at Indy. Was able to race Jeff Colvert who is the fast car in F/G stick. It gives me a good idea where I am with my program. Need to keep working on it.

Well I am certainly glad to know that he builds all makes because I certainly would'nt have known that by the amount of chevrolets he had on the super stock qualifying sheet at Indy.

Both drivers are great guys.

Both engine builders are obviously more than capable.

Aaron no offence, but as far as your remark about qualifying and power, I believe that this says all that needs to be said.

Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT-----ET---Speed-----Car#-Driver(Opp'nt)-RT----ET---Speed
3858 Dan Jacobs 4456 Jeff Colvert
C2 0.123 9.491 136.81 ****WINNER**** 0.144 9.438 140.72
SS/F Index: 10.35 (+/-): -0.859 SS/F Index: 10.35 (+/-): -0.912
Prior rounds:
C1 (P Anderson ) 0.180 9.466 137.44 0.072 9.397 140.71
Qualified: #35 9.458 138.34 #29 9.437 142.31

This is for the trophy. Jacobs left first, Colvert ran him down. Jeff Colvert's MOV: 0.0322 seconds (approximately 6 feet).

I'll put my money on Kuntz every time. (and I do)

And I also think we are both intelligent enough to know which engine has a better factor by simply dividing the cubic inches by the factored horsepower.Never mind the fact that one has a head that was never offered on a factory car and a better carb and is racing a car shaped like a brick so of course you would put your money on Kuntz, who would'nt?Of couse nothing shows true colors better than winning and then bragging about it on the internet.

I was just trying to learn a little bit about Jacob's combination. I'm sorry for all the arguing. It wasnt my intention, and I apologize that its come to this. I have hopes of running a 327 Super Stock engine in my Chevy II and was just trying to learn something.

I don't think you have to worry about any hurt feelings These guys are real racers and it shows by their qualifying efforts at Indy.

You aren't going to find all your answers on the internet, because everybody has their own favorite. ( myself included). It is a great place to get some ideas.

Sometimes a little incentive is needed to go find the 5-10 hp or the right car set up you need. If no one was in your class to push you it wouldn't be fun!

Look at the DP and CJ cars. They didn't impress anyone at first. Everyone that had one looked like they were the gods of Drag Racing. In fact, if you looked at the qualifying only, a person on the outside would think they were the best cars to watch if you wanted ot know how to set a car up and drive a class car. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. There were top qualifying cars that left the line terribly, I have seen drivers the chip on every gear and then shut off early. They would qualify well, but it was not due to the skill of the driver or set up, these cars were far from being correct. The drivers had no benchmark to know what a good run was or a bad one. OF course, now there are more of them out there so naturally, racers are really starting to get them figured out because they now have to. ( still some orphans out there in stock though) Now that they have to race others of the same kind, we are finding out that there are some fast ones and some that are less fast. That is a positive step. Now the fun begins. It is sportsman competition.

You picked a good pair of cars to benchmark. These 2 combos are not easy ones for sure and each .01 comes with hard work, and testing from bumper to bumper! When these cars leave the line they launch beautifully. You can close your eyes and hear the engine and clutch working together. If either of these guys ever hit the chip on a shift, I bet they are pissed because they know that is a few hun they just gave up! So while you can argue the factors on these two cars, the bottom line is that either one has a shot at beating the other. They both know they need great runs to hang with the other. If you want to know what good older body style SS cars should do, these are good ones!

I am sure these two will meet again and it will be good! What could be better than a stickshift Ford vs. Chevy dual with engine builders in the mix too? Maybe another match up in the future? Watch for it.

P.S. I have seen Dan's Chevy 2 up close and it is very very nice and very very Trick. If you are building a Nova like his, you should talk to him.

I would LOVE to talk to Dan, especially since my car would be a SS/F car as well. I 'm not so dumb as to not know their are lots of secrets that just come with time and wont be told, and I dont want to be told..........that would take some of the fun out of it. I would just like to talk to him and get some basic advice. It seems like a really neat combination.
