Didn't want to snag a port in the cylinder wall with the end of a ring, right?

I could get Real Technical, but for time sake... Just use their little paper. It works.
I've never bought a set of those rings. Total Seal doesn't send that paper. :-)
It tells you how to stop them from moving? I'd like to see that. Do you know if it can be found on line?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all your help!

It has been 10 years since I could save the money to build this motor.

Sorry - I have been working to use the best practice techniques I can and to check everything - but I have to be careful Not to get too ANAL or it will never get put together! LOL!

Thanks Again, Craig

Ed, They all move (rotate) except the ones that are pinned in place. The trick is to locate the rings where they will not rotate past one another during the early stages of break in. GM spent big bucks figuring out that problem. When they line up during break in it is a form of "hyd. lock". Where one ring won't rotate through the small oil path left by the other ring. After break in they will rotate past one another because the oil line, at the end gap, is reduced to nearly nothing. I'll try to scan the piece of paper with the placement in tomorrow night. I think there is something similar in the How to Hot Rod BB Chevies publication.
