Holy *****, I should have remembered that......I sold it to him when he was at Nationals in Vegas about 3 years ago. Original white paint, no Air, no power steering and ran like a top! I believe it was a accident investigation vehicle in Washington State. Hated to let it go but he is a cool guy and my buddy! Plus he gave me $400. CASH....... which is fortune for a F Body Wagon even a Aspen that nice!!!

Gee, thank's for remembering me John. It's probably the only rust free aspen in the world, lol. If you ever send me your address I'll send you down a copy of the record, I put your name in like I said I would. It is listed in the digger in mid sept 1/8th mile. Did any one else know that if you set the 1/4 mile record at a national open they also give you the 1/8 record? Mike and I did not know that.... Hope all is well down there.

Let's see some pictures of those Volare' /Aspen wagons.
Two that I remember are Judy McCormack and Jim Nichols. |

Philip, Do you know where the 1/8thmile records are posted? What is the record anyway?
Was that an 1/8th mile event only you were at?

Is this the wagon Jerry Bennett used to run and win ALLOT of Combo I races at Union Hill in the 80's?
If it is, it's another fast MoPar from Graves County, KY! |

I saw somewhere on the 'net (this site maybe) that someone was building a Volare/Aspen wagon for Super Stock with a 318 4-Speed combo. There were pix of the backhalfed chassis too. Pretty cool!!!

Hey Mark,
I set the record at the 1/8th mile national open race in august at Portland raceway 9.24 uncorrected, Then Mike went to the 1/4 mile national open race in Kearney the next weekend and set the 1/4 record. NHRA gave him the altitude corrected 1/4 and 1/8th mile records. 9.11. So I had it for a week and never had heard that you could set both records at once. Division 6 only has one race a year were we can set 1/8th mile records so I guess I'll have to go after the 1/4 record next, lol. Are you going to bring the mustang out of the garage and come play with us again? |
