Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
I like it. My brother and I always went in on stuff like this. Like someone mentioned earlier, you are already at the track spending $, whats another 20? Its like the lottery, "hey, ya never know".
I know the guys in T/S were talking about doing something like this for the upcoming season.

Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
We used to do this for the last qualifier at divisionals in Div.1.Based on best package of
dialin on window and r.t.Dave Ley and Gloria ran it I believe. All of a sudden it went away.I don't know why.I asked about resuming it a few years ago and was told it was too much work.Fun while it lasted.

Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
Chris ,It's a great idea to do this, and a lot of racers have handled doing it for years. ....Way back George Rupert did it ,Dottie D did it later and recently my Kathy did it . The only problem you have is everyone starts out saying they want in, but even when Kathy walked the lanes , or even drove around the pits to collect the money the number of participants eventually fell off. ............I will always get in if someone is running one ,but be aware, it can be a big pain . ......The $100 SG Calcutta we had at Atco was great, and I'd like to see more of them . .....Of course we had 3 former Word champs there that day, making it even more interesting. .....Tom

Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
well I guess the writing is on the wall 725 views to this poll and 21 people took the time to respond to the poll. I will try to do this deal at one of the races early on and see if I get response at the track. If it doesnt fly then I wont do it again, If it works then I will do it again until the attraction dies off.
Wish D1 did this 2 years ago at the gate |

Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
Chris, I voted , so now I can add my .02...
One small thing to consider...at our NESSA races (at LVD for S/ST), we have a drivers meeting before each race and pay entries, etc, and anyone that wants pays into a bounty.. Similar to that, I know more than once Kathy caught me in the staging lanes with no cash on me, and probably more than once I forgot to go pay... So maybe at the D1 races, have an announcement made over the PA or something to help us old farts remember to shell out the dough... Unless you want to go trailer to trailer, and then you might have to stop for a beer, and then who knows !

Re: .90 class Calcutta (Good or Not)
I was going to go into the lanes and collect money, that is the simplist way. I will also have section on the sheet to notate if you paid or not. So if you sign up you must put up but not at that second.
P.S. is anyone interested in a S/G driver in 2010 seems that I will not have a ride this season as Lou Nislar (corvette roadster I was driving) has decided to "get out of the racing buisness" |

Way to go Chris, just be prepaired, it is a lot of work. But it is fun S/G guys were no problem, but with the S/C guys it didn't go over too well. Don't know why, but I wish you luck and don't forget to look John or myself up when doing it. |
