Re: Haven't visited a local track lately, I felt really old
You would love "RunDay,FunDay Sunday" at Bradenton.I haven't been there in quite a while, but the folks from over on the east coast would come over to settle scores and debts owed. Never will forget this guy who was the size of Shack O'Neal who had this '73 or so Impala that was lime green, aluminum interior, Racepack system, BIG block, and a Lenco.John Kissel

Re: Haven't visited a local track lately, I felt really old
I went to Capitol Raceway, outside of DC, on a Friday night about a month ago. They were charging $20/person for spectators. There were easily 500+ spectators milling around... and probably 150 or so cars running throughout the day at $40/each.
It was about the same experience as you had. They were supposed to have a Gambler's race, but there was only one person other than myself who made the call to the lane for the Gamblers. Needless to say, it wasn't run. Bracket Racing has become a niche market in some places. |

The one thing I think MUST happen at these events is getting all the village idiots the hell out of the starting area or they will start suing the tracks because they allowed them to be stupid, sad to say.

Agree 100%! All it takes is one of those No Prep/No Time/No Pride POS cars to blow up or launch in reverse to injure or kill a few people that always seem to converge at the starting line, to make the insurance industry to take a closer look at all drag strip events.

Sounds like Atco on any Friday night ...

The only way to test is at a track that runs a good bracket points program . You get some track prep & the cars that are there for the most part are there to go rounds , and stealing your stuff is less lilely

Re: Haven't visited a local track lately, I felt really old
We get older, stuff changes. I'm glad we still have tracks, many have closed.
I'm fine with all the changes EXCEPT a large group of people next to and behind cars making passes. Having raced and crewed for buddies, that crap is annoying and folks don't realize how dangerous it is to be near a car launching.
