Thanks Mark I will never turn down luck 🍀
Yes I like 396s a lot and have about 3 blocks or so, but for some reason I have small block on the brain for this project, so far anyway. Just found a 327 block so will see here shortly what one is getting the go. Thanks guys for the input |

The Callies approved crankshaft is probably one of the best crankshafts for the SBC. Speedway Motors sells it at a lower price through Ebay.

Rory, good luck with pursuing your stocker dream. I have wanted to do something similar for a few years as I no longer bracket race. Living in Canada means far less opportunities to race in legitimate Stock/ Super Stock races and lots of travel. We also have to pay about 1.5 times as much or more for parts. Post pics when you can, so I can enjoy vicariously the adventure you are embarking on.

Hey Tim
Thanks !!! I wanted to build and play with one forever , built one when I was done with the funny car racing, I built a nice 85 Camaro stocker from Scratch put all the best stuff in it, drove it around the yard and handed the keys over to a new owner, I had just built a new shop for the business and wasn’t able to enjoy it the car , didn’t have time for it. Even when I had the funny car I spent a bunch of time looking at old stockers in the pit. Anyways attempted a couple others, ended up not finishing and getting a dragster or two, etc., but keep coming back to really wanting a old stocker Camaro, so I put this together with a 383 and 700r4 this year and had some fairly laid back fun, so I am pretty excited about turning it into a stocker now and seeing what we can do with it, and having some fun along the way and travelling a bit. I will post some pictures for sure and some with what the car looked like when I picked it up in April, don’t think it had seen the road for 20 or 30 years. Adventure for sure. |

I have both a 10 and 12 bolt
Will a 10 bolt work with the 327 auto combo fine ? As I was thinking a little lighter and a little less turning mass as long as a built up one is tough enough ? Or just use the 12 ? Thx |

Use the 12 bolt. Good parts cost the same no matter which rear. You could use an aluminum spool if your worried about weight.
