OK a little twist on the question. How well do C-4's hold up behind a 460 in a HEAVY car, assuming I can find one of those D5 bellhousings. (the c4 in my cougar has 11 clutch plates & .005 - .010 clearance per plate.)

My mustang convertible weighs 3610 minimum and I have run it as heavy as 3675 with no c-4 problems with a lot less clutch plates than what you are using. If you were going heavier, you might just go 6 pinion FWD planetary with standard ratio if you need extra torque capacity. BTW, I left you a PM. Brian

Don't know if it will work for you but RJ Sledge has a 2.92 gearset for trade or maybe sell in parts thread now.
