Re: AHFS @ Indy 2024
[QUOTE=Larry Hill;698922
Last year there were some singles first round because some alternates did not go to staging lanes.[/QUOTE] Last year at Indy there were plenty of alternates in the lanes. NHRA personal didn't have a qualifying sheet and didn't know who was the first or last alternate. It was total kayos and racers were skipped over. Casey Miles |

Re: AHFS @ Indy 2024
This was spoken of after the Big Go and I just don't get it. If you're a veteran racer and who believes there's a chance to get into the eliminator as an alternate why would you not go to the top of the lanes for the first round?
As for the NHRA official why on earth did they not drive around the pits with a list and alert those eligible or make an announcement or a text? Why in God's name was there chaos at the biggest event of the year? Shame on everyone. Last edited by Frank Castros; 06-26-2024 at 09:37 PM. |

Re: AHFS @ Indy 2024
From my understanding, a lot of alternates were up there, but there was miscommunication between everyone up there. It was a cluster from what I have heard.

This is a reflection of priorities from NHRA leadership ( accountants not racers) that really do not understand that this is impactful to many racers at Indy. There are people that work at NHRA that have the skills to manage this, but clearly, the leadership doesn?t allow it. Posting inexperienced workers and giving them zero support was a huge problem. The good news is that it is easily solved. Call alternates to the lanes and let them all check in. Do not run any singles until all of the alternates are locked in and lined up in qualifying order. Then they can just peel them off as needed and send the rest back. I have been an alternate and it is very stressful if you really want to race. You need to know where everyone qualified vs your Q spot to make sure the uninformed staging Lane employee doesn’t miss you. It can make a difference. I was an alternate in SS before and made it to the semi finals and had a legit shot at winning. Could have easily been left hanging in the lanes.

Re: AHFS @ Indy 2024
The "NHRA Leadership" seems to ignore just what Indy means to many of it's Sportsman members. There are MANY Sportsman Racers who make it one of their lifetime goals to go to Indy, qualify at Indy and if not qualify, get in the field. Even if that means as an alternate. The significance of this is lost (or ignored) to the leadership.

Re: AHFS @ Indy 2024
They should have the alternates put the number they qualified at on there windshield in big numbers. 129, 130 Etc Etc. and have them in a row of there own.

Will some one please contact the Competition Dept. or the D3 Division Director to get a definitive answer to the AHFS at Indy question and post it here.
