Re: HANS Devices
I've had some type of device on my list for the 2009 season. I was looking at either the HANS Sports Series, which I think is $495, or the Hutchens Device. Personally, I never liked the idea of having that big cumbersome thing of the HANS sticking off my shoulders as it will definitely make it more difficult to get in and out of the car (I'm thinking especially in the case of fire). But, a properly adjusted Hutchens Device only gives about +/- 20° of rotation. So, that's not ideal either.
The in-seat R3 Rage definitely sounds like something to investigate...

Re: HANS Devices
The R3 device is as easy to hook to the helmet as it is to put on your neck brace. No extra time is required and although you're hooking it without looking at the clips themselves, it's still easy to learn. It's a one-man job. Doesn't require any help.

Re: HANS Devices
Jason - I run a HANS in my dragster. Your welcome to try it on before you purchase. I've run it for two years and find it very easy to get in and out of the car.

Re: HANS Devices
Dave Steltz - I just bought a Hans and used it for the first time at Atco. I went with the next model up from the $695 one because it's a little lighter but it ran $950. It's an M20 with the sliding tethers. It takes some getting used to but otherwise you get good mobility, I can turn my head side to side and I actually think I have more mobility than the old collar.

Tom, I have the Haans device, the Sportsman Model. Around 700.00 works well and is pretty easy to use. You can check it out at the Dutch if you like. Regards, Pat I. SG1809 |
