Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
NHRA Pro Stock rules clearly state no outer wheel well modifications allowed. How was this car allowed to race with these obviously radiused ones? Pete

Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
I will give Carmens grandson a call this week and get some more information about the car.
I believe that when he told me about the "Brooklyn Heavy"car he also said it was the one with the Hemi in it. When he said it I did not think to ask him which car it was. His mother was Carmens daughter. Jim Hill |

Could it be this car? I have a photo (somewhere) of this Duster painted up in Heavy's colors. Pete

Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
Wondering if any of you know if the Brooklyn Heavy Challenger raced in 1970 was beige with a tan interior. I have a ‘70 Hemi Challenger that was raced in the ‘70s. Rear wheel wells were opened up.

Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
It is not Grumpys car. Heavys Vega is the first car built by SRD. I would like to know if it is the Vega. I started a SRD Facebook page. I have an early SRD Vega. Somewhere around 4th car built. I have had Pete Hutchinson verify the car

Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
Anybody have contact info for either Rotonda or Boyd relatives? I’m trying to research the race history of a 1970 Hemi Challenger

Re: Rufus "Brooklyn Heavy" Boyd
Carmen didn't have a daughter only one son. The speed shop was in Bloomfield, NJ. Carmen rolled the Vega on a track down south, sold the car and stopped racing shortly after that. He lives in a retirement community in south Jersey now.
