Re: Possible new Dragstrip in CT??
I think the only way we'll see a new dragstrip anywhere in New England would be if it was added to an already existing race track. 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile, build it, they will come.
I do find it interesting that Thompson is rebuilding it's old road course and plans on holding road racing events and just up the road in Palmer a group with the SCCA is build a complete new road racing facility. I didn't think that type of racing was that popular in this area. I do have to agree with Jimi, the 100' drags is quite the joke, I've seen it a few times and it doesn't resemble anything we do here. |

Re: Possible new Dragstrip in CT??
x's-2 . an 1/8 mile track would be fine with me. it would be a nice option to be able test locally. 30 min. ride for me vs. 1.45 min. to LVD. or 2.5 hours to NED. plus the awfull traffic going to NED. . i would save alot on travel expense. and if it does wind up under the ihra sanction. that's great too. it would be nice to get a couple ihra races back up north. now that empire is getting redone. maybe ihra will have a presence in the northeast again.

Along the same lines, there's a movement in FAIRBANKS, ALASKA to build a 1/4 mile drag strip in North Pole, Alaska, adjacent to the dirt track. It's already made it into council meetings. They could run snow machines in the winter. Butch/56sedandelivery.
