You can mix and match deck and gasket thickness, you take deck height and gasket thickness and add together (i.e) .002 deck clearance .016 gasket totals .018 you can use any deck or gasket as long as when you are done piston and head are not less than .018 apart,but .018 is too close together to run without hitting,unless it's a briggs.
