Re: Musical Tastes
If any of you spend much time on Youtube, there are several younger folks who do a "first time hearing" playback and commentary...
Seems that most of them had never heard a singer of Ms Ronstadt's caliber..Most of the responses are just "wow, wow"... But we knew, didn't we?

Re: Musical Tastes
Donna went to the same High School as Linda Ronstadt in Tucson, few years apart.

Re: Musical Tastes
I'm sure most of you know that The Bee Gees made some pretty good records in the 60's and early 70's LOL

Re: Musical Tastes
Wiki calls this a protest song. To me, it could be heard as Pop, Rock ,Top 40, Crossover Country, even Folk Rock.
No matter..it was a big record in 1969, in an era of more electric and psychedelic hits. "Games People Play" is a protest song whose lyrics speak against various forms of hatred, hypocrisy, inhumanity, intolerance, and irresponsibility, in both interpersonal and social interactions between people.[citation needed] Billboard favorably reviewed the song some three months after its release and eight weeks before it finally reached the Hot 100.[3] The song was released on South's debut album Introspect and as a single, reaching No. 12 on the Hot 100.[4] It was also a No. 6 hit in the UK in 1969, No. 4 in Ireland, and won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Song and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.[2] In this song, South mentions a drag strip down by the riverside. Seeing Joe was born and raised in Atlanta, I believe he was singing about Yellow River drag strip, near Conyers, which has been a trailer park for many years... https://bangshift.com/general-news/v...ago-11-killed/
