I know what you mean.
It looks like the Mcjury car ran both SS/B & SS/BA

What Randy Hopkins car looks like today...the Herb McCandless L023 '68 Hemi Dart.

Quote - Repainted to look just like it did in the day. It should, it was painted by the guy who did the first paint job. The work was orchestrated by SS/AH racer Randy Hopkins. Herb had no idea about the project until he saw it as it looks here. It brought tears to his eyes. We don't need no stinkin' vinyl cutter! You've got to love this hand paint job. This "panel" paint scheme really would suck like disco music if it weren't for the flawless execution. It's got every dated technique in the book thrown at it, gold leaf, drop shadows, pin stripes, marble, and whatever you call that stuff on the b pillars, hood, and deck lid but it works and I love it...

Yup, he made some ordinary days, just a lil special for me. Days I'll never forget. The man was full of information from old racing days to how he was able to "stretch" the rule book. sometimes he got away with it, other times---not so much. A GREAT innovator & true sporstman that was instrumental in making drag racing a recognized sport.

Looks like Fred's garage. Does he still have the red '64 light weight pictured?

Just the idea of a lock failure or a hose/seal leak and it comes down.
Not knowing the location of that pic, can I mention a small tremor or earthquake of minimal numbers could still cause major damage.

Where's that new bottle of nitro pills???????????????

Good eye a990. Yes it was Fred's. I am unsure of the current status of the 64. Great car tho. Just about brought this one home a few years ago.

That's a beautiful example of a genuine car in current race legal trim and is definitely one of my favorites too. I see nothing wrong with leaving a well done roll cage and link type suspension under a genuine factory built Super Stock car when the workmanship is of the highest quality as it is with Fred's car.
