Frank lives in the Charlotte area. Over on the HAMB he talks about going by the Holman Moody operation when he was a kid and still lives in the area

No, I've met Frank and attended some of his meets. This guy's first name was Bill (not Bill Blair, I've raced with him too) and he lived in Concord NC. He was a Ferrari collector before he got into race mopars, he was strictly an investor, didn't race.

Jim, for some reason I gave you the wrong answer to your question because I was looking for some info & pics on Bob Reed at the time...so lets see, I'll try this again...nope, I do not know of any 'black' 68 Hemi Darts that sold from the Alabama or North Carolina area that you mentioned earlier, but I'm curious was it an auto or 4-speed Hemi Dart...you also said that this NC collector also had 1 Hemi Barracuda & 2 Hemi Darts as well, are there any more details that you remember about those ones.

Treesavoy,
Same car that I mentioned earlier - Bill Rhodes in Concord had it - was orange in the pics he sent me - aslo had a 64 Ply in the garage (in the background of the pic). Car came from Jeff Cofield in AL- I would have to check my notes but I belive maybe his brother was involved with R&R Speed shop? - The letterhead he sent also had an old Ferrari on it - I am pretty sure this is the same car - and whoever guessed who had it now - you are correct!

Mark,

You're right it was Bill Rhodes and he must have painted the car because it had well worn black paint on it when the Reed brothers had it (R&R). Harold and Horace Reed owned R&R and raced Mopars and built engines for a number of IHRA racers.

Jeff Cofield and his brother Steve lived just a couple of miles from me in Gadsden AL and were big Mopar guy's. There is no connection between the Cofields and the Reeds. Once Jeff told me that he sold a Hemi Dart to some guys in FL who came up th AL to pick up the car in a snow storm over Christmas. I never saw that car. His brother Steve had 2 Superbirds and a Daytona plus 4 or 5 Cudas in his basement.

I don't know about the '64 Plymouth but when I visited Bill he had just gotten an A990 car and I don't remember the color. He also had 2 Max Wedge aluminum hoods, the crossmember I alluded to and a ton of rare Chrysler paperwork about the racing programs and a complete set of papers and letters sent by Chrysler to the NHRA on the AWB cars and the Hemi race cars.

This was in '87-'88.

Summer 1968,,,,,,,,

Very rare photo of Sox & Martin's '3' campaigning cars...

Both 68' BO29 SS/B Hemi Barracuda's, and the 68' 440 GTX SS/F.

Other Sox & Martin cars campaigned in 1968;
1968 Hemi Road Runner,,, (SS/C or S/SE AHRA Class)
1968 340 Barracuda,,,, (E/SA Class)
1967 Hemi GTX,,, (SS/D Class)
1967 Hemi Belvedere R/O (w/GTX letttering) (SS/C Class)
1967 440 GTX (SS/F),,,,,,{Most likely sold in early-1968}

The #784 Barracuda had 'Lil Boss' lettered on the fender.....
