There were a bunch. When I started looking for one several years ago I started a thread on here. I got a lot of responses. I ended up buying the car that Chip is driving. I know of a couple more that I would like to own......

One of the nicest was the "Stormalong" car of Westberg and Westfall. Joe Scott had one too.

Another car, while it doesn't totally fit the thread, is Art and Jan Peterson's 69 G.T.O. They bought that car new, went on their honeymoon in it and has been a race car ever since, I believe. On You Tube there is an episode of Attention In The Pits about this car, Worth the view.
Chuck's car is a 383 car. He has a great story about how he got it. If I remember right his neighbor bought it new. Chuck tried to buy it but he didn't want to sell. Not long after that his neighbor knocked on his door needing to sell. The rest is history. I believe Chuck bought it in the 70's.or 80's It's one of the coolest SS out there. He still has all the "383" stuff to put it back to original.

Most all of the Oldsmobile Factory Cars with "No VIN" were normal VIN cars that were used as Engineering Fleet Cars or Test Cars , the VIN tag was removed and the car was transferred to a racer . It was a great program that helped Oldsmobile win the NHRA Manufactures Cup several times in the 80's .

We have had a couple of these over the years. Still have one super stocker that was a durability test vehicle. Still carries the gm Id number on the rear quarter window. This was Terry Piersons car. I sold mine last summer that I believe was originally Jerry silveus’ car.

Ray Stover got a test car to turn into his SS/FC car. He said when he got it, the door hinges and latch assemblies were totally worn out, he asked about it and they told him it was used on a door latch wear test so cycled a jillion times to see how they would hold up, pretty funny story.

As for the no vin Cutlasses, the Wise Speed Shop car was one but I lost track of it a long time ago. Dave Wise and Dave Meredith had always run Camaros (including Wise's funny car) so it was quite a shock to see them in an Olds.

Willie Devore was awarded one from Olds that he made into a killer SSAS car. Had a stickshift with a real Olds engine in it. He won class at Indy 1986 with it.

I recall it was a diesel v6 test car and it has aluminum parts like trunk lid and other areas that were designed to offset the weight of the diesel.

He did try an automatic for a brief stint. The trans exploded and pushed the floor up so bad he had to cut it out and replace it. No more automatics after that.

He traded it to Scott Talgo. Not sure what happened to it after that.
