Carb Sizes;
Ford/Motorcraft TB 1.563x1.960 Ven 1.250xAV,
Holley TB 1.563x1.563 Ven 1.250x1.
Carter ThermoQuad TB 1.375x2.250 Ven 1.063xAV

To me, the motorcraft looks the best with 1.563x1.96 plates and the biggest air valve. Now obviously the secondaries on the thermo bog are bigger but the air valve is smaller.
Is there really that much difference?

Anybody know what the carter flows compared to the holley or ford? And yes I realise quality is better than quantity, just curious.

Well Dad and I took the Seville out to our back road dragstrip today. From a dead idle he almost put it in the ditch! This is a legal street car NHRA legal U/SA. Less then 5k and run well under. But it is a 4dr Seville I had looked at it before Shaw did his but I passed because it is so ugly LOL

The uglier the better. Leave the steel wheels on it too. If all else fails,put flames on it!

OK, how about 93 cougar with the 170hp 232 v6?

50mm throttle body/port fuel inj
roller cam
.426/.452 lift
1.78/1.46 valves in big heads
outer spring and damper

I found Isky sells 3.8 ford cams (264 mega etc) maybe blanks are available now?
This is on Cranes site for 3.8's;

"Camshafts for this engine family are manufactured on a custom order basis. Please call our tech personnel toll-free at (866) 388-5120 and discuss the profiles that are available for your particular application. In some cases, where outright cores are not available, it may be necessary to regrind your standard camshaft"

Yeah I was thinking about that too, don't have to worry about weight - its about 300-400 heavy I wish I knew how to tune this Holley computer. We just have it on a base setting for a street 350. Just got it running basically. I will say if a 4000 lb cadillac can fry both rear tires for about 200 feet it should run 14 something.

Wink Re: Some "Dime Rockets" for the 4TH!

IHRA Combo 69 4-door Nova natural V add weight to W will run.......Far enough under to get Hp! I have one that's how I know. 91 Cougar.....you figure it out. 80 Monza 151 Iron Duke with a stick...... Killer W car....88 Cutlass ....I have one....you figure it out....I have gotten away from the stock class cars & started looking @ SS so some I have found escape me. To me the best (or in my mind cheapest) is the 78 Camaro U/SA. Now then IHRA the 1998 Mustang GT factory 225 rated @210 is an EASY car! I bought one new it would run right @ the index with NO mods!! I'm talking factory Goodyear Radials! The early 90's to late 80's Mustang's ARE a good combo for the money in both Stock & SS (my .02 cents)

I just got an e-mail from one of my "old racer buds" and he wants me to post a combo that he says we "missed".
82-84 Camaro/Firebird 173/135
Yeah it's small and it's a 2v but what a 2v! 800 Q-jet cut in half with 1 pri and 1 sec means 400 cfm no matter how you flow it.
Real nice cylinder head with biggish valves for a little motor (1.60/1.30).
.347/.394 cam, not a lot of compression
200 turbo
This one would test your scrounging skills and our budget but I think it could be done cheap to run under the index and built up on as funds come up.
There is one of these "screaming" around D-2 so they will go fast.
I think the key to doing this one on our budget is to find a Dana-44 "GM Service Package" bolt in rear. I've bought and sold a couple of them and the most I've paid for one is $100 (but good luck!). Don't confuse them with the "australian" rear, these look like a Dana.
Parts are available right to maybe squeak it under our budget cap.
