Six or seven years ago someone in Orlando FL sold a '63 Mercury 2dr Sedan, all original with a 427 side oiler, 4sp, bench seat, and 9" posi for $17,000. By the time I got there it was sold.

Jim,
A 1963 model 427 would have been a top oiler. The side oiler did not arrive in production cars until 65 or 66.
thanks, Roland

Jim R,,
No problem making mistakes on 'those-other-cars'. But you are not
allowed any slack on the 'Mopars'.
Even the Ford guys are not sure on there stuff. I had to pull my teeth out trying to get info (on a possible purchase) of a 68' Shelby GT350H.
Buick Riviera,
GS package had 3.42 gears. GM advertising a 'luxury-performance car'.
Great Hot Rod ad, WASP-looking guy with white shirt and tie, hot blonde
trophy girlfriend in white dress,,driving through a beautiful neigborhood,
with burn-out marks about 75' feet long...AHH AMERICANA at its finest!!

Olds 4-4-2,
Yes, on the ODD-BALL,,I would agree, the 1970 Toronado GT qualifies for this thread. A standard Toronado came with the 455/375hp engine.
The performance GT with the W-34 option gave you the 455/400hp engine. Also, equipped with a special TH-425 Turbo-Hydromatic, and
a special torque-converter (higher stall speed). The engine came through with larger intake valves, and high performance camshaft
(specs not listed). The rear bumper had cut-outs for the dual exhaust ends. The car did come through with special 'GT' badging. Of course, the final drive ratio for the front-wheel beast, 3.07.
I think other options were available, not part of the W-34 GT option.
One thing, just 'Do Not Get in The Way of That Car'. 4500lbs. and capable of reaching 135mph!!!
Paul,,,Thats with the a/c on..

Keith,
The Toronado GT was quicker in the 1/4. The 70 Buick Riviera GS did come through with the Stage 1 engine, 455/370HP.. High-lift cam,
stiffer valve springs, bigger QuadraJet, cold-air induction and low-restriction dual exhausts,, 3.42 gears (higher ratios available). But,
it was not quicker, despite being lighter (4247lbs. to the Toronado's
4500lbs.).
Toronado GT; 15.90's @ 89mph
Buick Riviera GS; 16.60's @ 85mph

The Toronado GT also had 56% of that massive bulk on the drive wheels!

AMC Marlin,,,'SQUISH-FISH'..
Next up,,the 70' Pontiac Grand Prix 'Hurst SSJ'..

Ran pretty hard till he crashed it.
