Anyone remember the 72' or 73' Brown Cadillac Coupe DeVille, with the off-white vinyl top.
472 cubed, with the nitrous boost.
Damn boat, embarrassed many 'musclecars'.
Was from Jackson Heights.

Tip my hat to ya as you did spank us one night at 150 street. I believe at the time it was in a 65 b body with a wedge in it. If you go to new york street racing in the 70's and scroll thru to all the pictures you will see us lined up on the conduit and some other pictures that will bring a flood of memories.----to everyone who lived the racing scene back then ,enjoy the memories, because unless you were there- people would not believe it !
My father worked for "Pete" at Island Porting in Broad Channel, he ported heads.

Hi carl, small world we live in. What was your fathers name and when did he work there. I worked part time btw 73-75 helping out in the shop and doing maintenance to the dart ( we kept it there as we had an ongoing bill with pete ).

Not too bad, thanks and you? Norman Blake did take some pretty amazing photos. The machines in those articles are just plain raw and brutal. My kind of machines That was actually me who uploaded those photos to that Facebook group, so feel free to add me if you like.

If I'm ever in New York I'll definitely have to give you a shout and take you up on your offer. I'd really like to get the chance to take a tour of all the famous street racing locations in and around NYC.

You know FINESPLINE, such a tour sounds like it could be an interesting business opportunity...

When did nitrous start showing up on the NYC/NJ street racing scene? Late '70s? I've read there were lots of "boats" (Cadillacs, Lincolns, Hearses, the whole bit) with monstrous cubic inches and nitrous around the late '70s and well into the 1980s that were able to clean up fairly well.

Now that one has no turn around so you meet on down the road in warehouse district. conduit turn around was easy, use rockaway or springfield blvds.
Is concrete more desirable than pavement? If so, what are the advantages?

Would you mind providing us with the specs of the Dart? Who was driving that race against "Froggy"? Did the Cross Bar Dart only race at 150th/S. Conduit? Art, FINESPLINE, was this a one run only race? Was the race a long time in the planning, or was it a spur of the moment deal?

cammer427,
I don't think anybody knew the 72/73 Caddy was 'nitrous oxide enhanced'.
His claim was that the engine was rebuilt with a Lunati cam, and it had 3.90 gears.
Heard the kid blew it up, going for a land-speed record on the L.I.E.
Then the kid came back with a 75' 500 cubed 75' Caddy
(rectangle head-lights). It was faster.
Just where did this kid come up with these cars, with nitrous injection,, his father was a dentist in Jackson Heights.
