I shared the photo's of Tom Crutchfields car with the parts guys at Button Dodge in Kokomo In. They had no idea of their dealerships history. I roll through Kokomo once a week and I always wonder if Tom is still around. He would have to be late 70's? now?

Stewart,
The Carlton Cuda was damaged in a towing accident - bought by S&M and Carlton was hired to drive for them. This was Don's break into the big time. The car was repaired with a 69 front end (S&M also did this in 69- not sure how they got away with this in S/S though - Landy did it too) Well Carlton's car was painted in S&M colors and in early 70
S&M ran 2-68 cars and while they were sorting out the 70 P/S car - if you ever see pit shots from Pomona 70 you will see all three cars. I think when Don left S&M was when Herb McCandless was hired full-time. Don drove a RR in 69, the 68 Cuda and If I am not mistaken also the Duster that Herb McCandless later drove in P/S (70).
BTW the other Cuda in the S&M shop is NOT the Cossey car.
S&M only had one Superbird - the car in the background was a customer car - and a Daytona - if I am not mistaken a Disc Jockey in SC raced the car -Chuck Neeley I belive.

1968 Sox & Martin Hemi Barracuda paint scheme had the white hood, with blue center stripe (with Lil Boss on the fenders)...Their 1969 Hemi Barracuda paint scheme had a blue hood and white center stripe, (with Lil Boss on the hood scoop)...Also another later shot of their 68 Hemi Barracuda with polished super tricks on it...Hmm, I wonder who's car that was originally, anyone know.

I'm new to this message board and this is my first post. I was in my mid to late 20's when the Hemi 'Cudas and Darts came out. I remember them well. I used to go to"The Rock" and watch them run. Got to see "Grumpy" there, too. We also went to Bristol, Darlington and Concord. Those were the days.

In post 687 I think the blue Buick on the left looks a lot like Jason Line's car. He had it at Charlotte in April of 2011, but didn't do too well.

I live near Charlotte and was able to see Sox and Martin quite often. Around here Ronnie was called "Mr. 4-speed."

I've really been enjoying this thread. Keep up the good work!

The Jerry McClure, SS/B 'Scootin Cuda' did end up with
Paul Lance out of Kentucky.

The paint scheme for both the Wiley Cossey (California car) and
Jerry McClure (Mississippi car) couldn't be any closer.

In 1969 Sox and Martin had at least 3 Cudas, the car Jack ran was at the Winters and then sold to Sam, as they then ran the blue hooded car which won the 69 Nats and worlds final, This is the Cuda that is now been restored and owned by Clark Rand. The third Cuda was also run at 69 Indy as a B / gasser with injectors to showcase Pro Stock for 1970. This Cuda may have been bought from Don Carlton, as he drove this car at the 70 Winters in Pro Stock. I came across this older post...is there anyone else here that can add anymore info or details on the Sox & Martin 68 Hemi Barracuda's that they raced in 68-69-70 or later...Here's a couple of photos of Eddie Smith's (West Virgina Hemi) 68 Hemi Barracuda that Sox & Martin sold to him.
