Roll bar main hoop
Does the main hoop have to be vertical, or is it OK to lay it back a tad so it matches the door jamb and post? My 2006 NHRA rule book doesn't specify any angles, but it pictures the main hoop perpendicular to the floor.
Also, what about strength? Some guys think this would make the bar weaker, but we're not talking much angle, and it's supported front and back anyhow. ~Pete 1970 Nova 12.653@105.43

You are allowed to lay it back to match the door jam , not to mention it looks a million times better this way.

There really is no rule written in the NHRA rule book about laying back the hoop with a roll bar, but if you read pg 220 1st paragraph full bodied cars roll cage it states you can as long as the driver is encapsulated with in. I would call your division tech director for a clarification.
