I got in to this class because it a performance based class. Need more heads up racing, less classes combine auto and sticks. Enforce the rule book, more teardowns. Possibly 1lb weight break between the classes

However, an actual formula taking into account barometric pressure, relative humidity, and grains of water in the air is purely scientific. It tells you the true effect weather has on performance potential. Just like the SAE correction factors for an engine dyno. They're not perfect, but they're based on reality and scientific fact.

The qualifying sheet tells you how hard a percentage of people are pushing their combination, with weather as a contributing factor.

Let's say I'm at a race like St Louis where it is pretty fast.I get a heads up run and all I can go is about 8 tenths under.I'm going to get beat badly by my opponent since he probably can go 1.30 under. He gets a really bad light, tightens the stripe, and still runs 1.05 under.
With the mineshaft rule in effect where half the field was at least .85 under,he will not trigger? But if the mineshaft rule is not in use,he will trigger at one second under?
Is that how the mineshaft rule works?

I believe it basically follows the same rules as Indy with no AHFS, with
the exception being the instant hit ( was -1.20 now -1.30 ) is still in play.

IMHO the problem with the mineshaft rule is it was based on the field strength instead of the weather. Again, the field can be "Manipulated" and the weather is what it is. The question should be what weather conditions constitute "Mineshaft" I say start with StdTempPressure and move the threshold up...
