Written by Springsteen and Smith and after recording it, Springsteen (who "had trouble" singing it) let Smith record it for her first album and her first hit! It was also recorded by 10,000 Maniacs ( my personal favorite).

Mountain's version of Theme for an Imaginary Western was originally written and performed by Jack Bruce of Cream...The rest of the story is that Felix Pappalardi produced a couple of Cream albums, and did a great job here on the vocals.
This song was performed at Woodstock and appeared on the Woodstock II album set. RIP Felix P. and Leslie West
