Default Best Spread bore Carb. to Square bore Manifold

The taller the better if enough hood clearance?
Some move carb back a bit.
Suggestions?

318 Superstocker with Victor Intake and Thermoquad.

Is there a good Dominator flange manifold available...Move the carb forward
318 shouldn't need a huge plenum...

Good morning Adger and John,
I don't think anyone ever made a Dominator Intake manifold for a 318 LA Chrysler engine. I think I would look for a Performer type intake to start with. Or Street type single plane intake with a 1" Spread Bore to Square Bore Mr. Gasket Adaptor. Then have your favorite Cylinder Head Specialist blend and smooth the adaptor into the the plenum area. Depending on your RPM band and Torque curve at some point in time you might want to add some length to the runner walls. The street type intake will lend itself to porting and runner reshaping which might be enough for an engine of that size. You might have to try a couple of them ( Different Brands ) , so I wouldn't weld anything together permanently just yet. I'm not a big fan of spacers in general but you have to do - what you have to do.
Years ago for some Pontiac S/S engines we used to split some Holley Street Dominator intakes across ( side to side ) and weld the two rear sections together and at that time they seemed work better then what was available .

Respectfully,

Good afternoon John,
What other Intakes have you tried on the engine?
I did see that was the intake you are currently using. If that's the best one you have found then bolting on an adaptor and trying to move it some on the plenum opening might help. I would probably try that while on a dyno test. I believe Edelbrock used to make a similar adaptor that could be Heli-arched on instead of bolting on.
Moroso used to make a cast aluminum Adaptor but it was about 2' tall and wide open. I don't know how much carb to hood clearance you. In the past certain engines responded better to a little bit smaller runner sized intake manifold even with ported Stock cast iron cylinder heads. Then having the runners and plenum ported ( in the intake manifold ) and blended to finished it off. The Power band of the engine and its cubic inch's will have a direct effect on the manifold choice, how much carb to hood clearance do you have?
What is the thickness of your current adaptor?

John,

Either run the Wilson Manifolds adapter or the Edelbrock 2693 adapter.

Make sure to blend it to the intake carb flange.
