KELSON & KELSON STOCK/SUPERSTOCK SERIES - RACE 2 REPORT
Miramichi Dragway, August 2, 2024

The second race of the ACSSA 2024 season took a few tries to get underway thanks to earlier rainouts, but the Miramichi National Open weekend stayed hot and dry other than some overnight rain, and we enjoyed three full days of Stock/SS racing. With temperatures climbing to the high 80s, a DA varying from 2600-3000', and Water Grains in the 100 range the day was a struggle for both man and machine, but some impressive ETs were nonetheless recorded. 36 Stock and Super Stock cars rolled to the lanes for the two Qualifying sessions, including several from Quebec and Ontario. 10 racers stopped the clocks at better than 1 second under, led by Scott Underhill in his 1971 Pontiac T37 at -1.30 under his Index.
If there was any lingering doubt that former Junior Dragster Champion Kale Johnson would be a threat in his Stocker right off the bat, this race surely put them to rest. In only his 3rd season in the "big car" Kale scored his first win in grand style, beating several of the best racers in the northeast and earning his spot in the Winner's Circle holding a coveted NHRA Wally. Congratulations Kale!
