Default Roger Richards RIP

Just learned that Roger passed away today. One of, if not the best drag racing photographers around. Nice person. Met him in bleachers at Indy 2010. I take pictures for fun and asked him questions about settings and he was very forthcoming with his advice. Will miss his photos. Prayers for the family.

So sorry to hear that. His van- in which I'm convinced he spent 10 times the amount of time compared to his home - was always a fixture.

At all the races I worked, he was right up there with the most dedicated, hardest working, always hustling to get the right shot, making sure he covered every participant he could regardless of class, and everything else that sets the true professionals a level above. On top of that, always friendly when he'd be able to spare a moment to talk.

After following Roger?s work in print and online for many years I had the pleasure of meeting him at PRI. I thanked him for his service to our country and we discussed our time in the military. We discussed drag racing and what I was up to at the time (racing and starting a speed shop). As busy as he was he took the time to have a conversation with a stranger. But we parted as friends.

I will always remember him for his talent, his passion and for his special skill at taking great photo shots of "people" at the race.
Rest in peace,
