The track will give their new entries only a time run at 12:30 p.m., then we will follow with only our Warren Engines Dash for Cash, then straight into eliminations so everyone can get home at a decent time on Sunday evening. Sunday's title sponsor is Pope Automotive and Brister Racing is the associate sponsor. You still have time to enter the points as we have only had 2 races thus far this year. * $200.00 to enter points * $100.00 to enter race (daily) * CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association t-shirts, hoodies, & hats available. Let's give KDS Motorsports a show like we did in 2023 & break another CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association record. See everyone Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Re: CCRA KDS May 4-5
KDS Motorsports Race Recap
This was scheduled to be our 3rd & 4th races of the 2024 CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association season but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for us on Sunday so we were only able to complete our Saturday event. We want to start by thanking Mr. Bobby Smith, Billy Shivers, & the entire staff at KDS Motorsports for welcoming us to their track for another year. Although they were dealt multiple obstacles throughout the day, their never give up attitudes held it all together & was able to crown a winner in each of their 6 classes for the day. We were called to the lanes for our 1st run of the day & that's when Mother Nature first decided to show her tail. After about an hour of down time, we were called back to the lanes. We completed our first time run & next run would be the Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. We had 6 racers go dead on with 2 of those racers going dead on their dial with a 0. Mike Moller, picking up exactly where he left off at ROXBORO MOTORSPORTS DRAGWAY, picked up the first money of the day. He was dialed an 8.53, ran a 8.530 at 77.76 mph with a .032 RT. We had 39 cars come up for 1st round with 1 breaking during Dash & 2 breaking either in the staging lanes or on the track. Homer Carty is suffering from a dry spell thus far in 2024 received the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package on a very close run against Stacie Ridings. Not to mention, Homer had to switch cars before 1st round due to car failure in Dash for Cash. He jumped in the infamous "Shotgun Boogie" car that Michael Crumpler used to wheel in the old IHRA days. Homer dialed a 6.54, had a .021 RT, & ran a 6.545 at 102.68 mph for the tough loss. Luckily for him, once he got back to his trailer & diagnosed the problems with his other car, the damages weren't as bad as initially suspected. The Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Joseph Strickland. He had a .074 RT, ran a 7.500 at 88.37 mph on his 7.49 dial to pick up a fresh 5 gallon pail of Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants PRO 112+ racing fuel. Chad Wisecarver was the lone semi-finalist & picked the wrong time to take a small nap at the tree. He was trying to make it an All Wisecarver finals but Kevin Riner, coming off a two year slump had other plans. The finals were now set with Ol' Two Time Kevin Riner & 2023 Classic Gear Jammers Champion Charlie Wisecarver. Riner handed the win over to Wisecarver at the hit when he turned on the red bulb by .010. Charlie was dialed a 6.22, had a .037 RT, & ran a 6.230 at 107.93 mph. For the 3rd race of the season, we were able to pay $2000.00 to the winner, Thanks to our 2024 Series Sponsor, GBM Land and Construction! Charlie also received a $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, a can of FOGGIT, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Ignition, $100.00 gift certificate to Crew Chief Pro Software, $100.00 gift certificate to Edelbrock Performance, $100.00 gift certificate to COMP Cams, & a 5 gallon pail of F12 fuel from Fuel Factory. Kevin received his runner-up winnings as well as a $50.00 gift certificate to Portatree Timing Systems, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Ignition, a $50.00 gift certificate to Edelbrock Performance, $50.00 gift certificate to COMP Cams, & a 5 gallon pail of F8 fuel courtesy of Fuel Factory. Mike Pozzi received the Dunn Logging Company sponsored Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" award for his .004 RT during round #2 of eliminations. The McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award was given to Joel Moreland. He was paired up in the staging lanes & once it was time to pull onto the track, his electric window wouldn't roll up & he was unable to make the 1st round call. Hot Stuff, Curtis Smith Racing, received the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award for taking out ROXBORO MOTORSPORTS DRAGWAY Sunday Winner Mike Moller in R2. The Wisecarver Brothers sponsored Sportsmanship Award went to Mr. Ronny Williams. Ronny gave Mike Pozzi a rocker arm to make the show & they didn't even know one another. Mike wanted us to make sure Ronny was acknowledged for this generous gesture. Stacie Ridings in her Lil' Aggravation Too Camaro received the Performance Sealing and Striping Best Winning Package for her round 1 win against Homer. Stacie was dialed a 7.00, had a .008 RT, & ran a 7.002 at 94.56 mph. The 2024 Gainesville Raceway Gatornationals 2024 Super Stock Champion, Mr. Kenny Horne, was awarded the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter/Worst RT" for his .283 RT during round 2. The Saturday race was finished shortly after midnight & a decision for Sunday was to be made on Sunday morning. The early morning hours of Sunday, the race was cancelled due to the upcoming weather forecast between the hours of 12 p.m.-6 p.m. KDS Motorsports posted pics live from the track at 1:45 p.m. & the rain did come so the proper call was made. A reschedule will be announced for the Sunday race within the next few days/weeks. On behalf of the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, Leigh Anne Flynt, Dave and Gloria Ley, & myself Tabitha Moore Draughon, we want to thank each & every one of you for another successful race day. Our next race is a little less than three weeks away at Rockingham Dragway. I know lots of y'all are excited to see all the improvements done there. |
