it's not that it goes bad, it's that racers modify them to fit. The manufacturers will not recert them once modified.

(Yes it happens) you gotta have a rule that covers that guy too. As for the flexplate. You got one guy that races like crazy several nights a week and goes rounds. vs guys who’s flexplate could last forever because they only race once or twice a year. Gotta have a rule that covers both. Because we have gotten away from personal responsibility and into suing everybody when something happens. But where I think it’s nuts is transmission shields and flywheel shields. How does a piece of aluminum or steel just go bad. Because it was bolted on the car. Unless something gernades how can that ever be damaged or worn out? Now that’s a waste of money. But it keeps the contingency sponsors in business so I guess it’s not all bad.
IMO a 5 year rule would make sense but the 2 year rule is really off the wall!

Damn I didn't realize they put a time frame on them too, I thought it was just all v8 stockers need an SFI plate now.

With todays 3d computers any date tags are a piece of cake to make, if fact SOMEONE made the originals. Then you have to figure how observant are the ones checking the tags?

Uh I wouldn’t do that. There was an incident a few years ago with fake SFI seat belt tags. And if I remember right. They got long vacations, big fines and their names in the dragster or NHRA websites saying what they did (which to me would be the worst of it)

The SFI 29.1 flexplate certification time period has always been 3 years from certification date. The only change is that they are required for more classes in 2024.
