Default Varicam usage

Back in the late 60s,early 70s there was a company that made a adjustable upper timing gear to alter your cam timing. It was called Varicam.Did anyone here ever use one of these?

I have one but would be too chicken to use it. It looks like a problem waiting to happen to me.

Lyn, My Dad and I used one back in the late 60's on a 348"W" engined 1960 Impala running k/sa. 305 h.p. AFB carb w/ a powerglide. Very heavy car, at the bottom of the class. Tried lots of different settings, but didn't make much difference. Besides back then they weren't legal in Stock eliminator. Had a Lunati "cheater" camshaft too.
Hope that helps.
