Default New Track coming to California

Just saw this from Drag Racing Online.....

The Agent has now confirmed that plans for a new multi-use motorsports facility and drag strip near central California’s Santa Maria Valley have just about cleared all of the necessary governmental approvals. With county board of supervisors hurdles cleared, the plot of land has been acquired and may begin grading in the next sixty to ninety days. Santa Maria has a rich drag racing history, having held races dating back to the early 1950’s on what is now Foster Road and on a portion of the municipal airport grounds. [07/10/18]

Other racers on DRR have said this has been going on for more than 10 years , I do not know any more than what was on Drag Racing Online. I posted just what it said , so could be true or just more talk. I really don't know. Its half way down the page......

these folks appear to have fought a long battle, I sure wish them good luck going forward.

At one time the drag strip was to be an 1/8 mile facility sanctioned by the IHRA.

Is that still true?

I sure hope it does come through but unless it has some major funding I don't see it happening. I still remember the Drag City in Banning Ca and Lake Havasu City projects. Just my 2cents.
