Default Stock or super stock ?

I have an ex stock eliminator car that has modified inner wheel tubs. I'm calling it a mini tub. Car ran IHRA Stock in the early 2000-2007. Is this car still legal ? Or do I have to run it in Super stock ? Stock rule book only says minor modification to clear tires. Pretty vague. Any comments ??? The car is a 1968 Camaro.

You would have to put on some replacement wheel housing to run stock in nhra I believe.

For Stock in both hra's you have to have stock wheel wells, you would have to run in SS as it is.

That's my guess as well. I'm going to bracket race the car for now with the small block 400 I have in it and start putting together a 350ci for super stock.

In this day and age it takes a Brinks truck full of money to run a competitive super stocker. In the long run you might be better served to find a donor car with stock wheel wells and repair your car. You might want to think on this .....

Might work with CM stock. They allow a larger tire ,10"?. Was legal just like the Mopar inboard spring kits. Call your IHRA divisional director. There are combos out that were legal or are legal or grandfathered in.

Jeff -
The email address in your message to me comes back undelivered. The message I sent you was:

"I’m not sure what you mean by “modified”. If original sheet metal has been replaced or seriously altered, then it will not be legal. The common modification on the early Camaro is to remove the inner part of the wheel well and replace it with something that moves the wheel well to the frame rail. That is definitely not legal since it removes the stock mounting points of the shocks. Luckily, there are replacement sheet metal parts to rebuild the inner wheel well back to stock configuration, so the car could be made legal without too much work and money. "

The advice you have received above is good. Heed it.

OR....................

You could wait until mid-season when NHRA is sure to publish another rules and/or blueprint specification revision......
