Engine location for S/G
Good Morning.
I am building a S/G 1960 Falcon 2 door wagon. 533 BBF and C4. S&W tube chassis 2x3 frame w a-arms. Body is just outside shell for now, no firewall yet. I want ideas for best engine set back in relationship with center line of front spindle. Some say front motor plate should be even with spindle and 12" crank C/L to ground measurement. I have had suggestions for crank C/L to grond from 9'5 to 13". Also Crank should be level to ground. Please share your ideas and opinions. Thanks |

Re: Engine location for S/G
Like Chuck said , height and setback are relative to horsepower and wheelbase .
I don't remember the wb on a Falcon , but your engine choice is one of the heavier ones , regardless of horsepower . Super Gas cars that don't run wide open , bracket racing can defiantly benefit from maximum set back and height . I would build the car with adjustable motor plate mounts , so future height changes are simplified .

Re: Engine location for S/G
There are quite a few variables to consider (too many for this two finger typer to write out) but if you want to give me a call at the shop (419-258-2100 advanced chassis, ask for Dan) I will be glad to take a few minutes with you to help with the design.
Thanks Dan |

Re: Engine location for S/G
Do you already have the C4? If you don't have a trans DITCH the C4 and go with a glide you will be alot better off I know been running Ford's forever best thing I ever did was go glide ran C6 behind a 460 went to glide and picked up over 3 tenths! Good luck I am a Falcon guy myself I got A 64 2 door wagon that I bracket race 331 and glide got another 65 4 door with almost perfect body that would make a great driver or race car for sale!
