Default Re: Been Lurking, now ready to ask.

I ran a 300/315 HP 402 in a '71 Chevelle coupe from 2001 to 2005. Now that I no longer run the combo, I will admit that is factored just about right- doesn't need an increase or a much of a decrease.

Cal Method had the same engine in a Camaro body in F and G, and often ran 1.20+ under the index. Mine was 1.00+ under about a dozen times, more often .75-.95 during the regular racing season, when the engine was fresh. It did not have all of the tricks that are common among top-half qualifiers, so I always believed there was another 2 tenths or so to be had.

There are at least two other members of this forum that ran this engine, one with a Monte Carlo body, another a Nova. I think they had decent results too. Also, there was a white station wagon that set the F Pure Stock record at either Pittsburgh or Quaker City a couple years ago that seemed to work well.

I say go for it.
