Super Eliminator
An NHRA history question for you.
Does anyone know anything about the long defunct SUPER Eliminator Category run by the NHRA in the 1960s? It appears to have been made up of upper level Comp. Elim. type classes. I have seen a photo of an unblown Funny Car running in the C/Fuel Dragster class (Gene Snow, I think). The photo is labelled as "Super Eliminator" I am from Australia and we never had Super Eliminator as one of our Eliminator classes. Regards from OzzyMike |

Re: Super Eliminator
Super Eliminator included all supercharged Competition Eliminator classes along with A/FD, B/FD and, (for one year), C/FD.
The reason Snow's Dart was classified as a C/FD was the same reason ALL "funny cars" were classified as fuel dragsters at NHRA events. From 1964 until the creation of Super Eliminator, any vehicle burning nitromethane in NHRA competition was classified as a fuel dragster based on weight per cubic inch. |
