Re: Staging with Bump Box.
I just watched the video on the website. Very interesting but i am sure it is or will be illegal in NHRA and IHRA competition.
That said I would try it on my Top Dragster. Why not. |

Re: Staging with Bump Box.
It's illegal the Nhra &Ihra rule books prohibit any method of staging the car beyond visual use of the tracks equipment.
But if ya want to be a cheating bastard and risk possibly being banned for life go ahead. Davis will also sell you a nifty traction control device (also illegal) or google matty box cause if your going to cheat you may as well go first class!

Re: Staging with Bump Box.
Rephrase: If it was legal i would try it.
After replying the first time to this thread I did text Dave Mohn to see if it was in fact legal as i am to lazy to read the rule book. |

Re: Staging with Bump Box.
To reply to the origional question, it was developed to allow cars with turbo's to be able to spool up to rpm without pushing out of the staging beams while running on a pro tree. According to the ads, some Pro Mod's are using them now, so must be legal in some classes, don't know. I don't see any real advantage for using one on a bracket car, you are staging at a low enough rpm you can bump into the second light with no problem. Just something else to worry about going wrong.

anyway, my $.02 not worth the hassle. anyone bracket racing should be able to stage a car properly every time...

Re: Staging with Bump Box.
Good day racers good call in regard to it being legal i personally would not use the bump box dont need it can stage consistantly
but a mate that runs super gas mentioned it to me that it could help him stage deep enough to have killer reactions without turning off the top bulb.I wonder what will be invented next. Thanks for taking time to comment with your thoughts cheers.
