Default glide vs. turbo

I know this subject has been beat up alot but just want some opinions.Just finished a SuperMod style Sunfire and looking for trans ideas. We swept the garage of our SB parts and threw together a 381 cubic inch.Motor will make 750 for power and car should weigh 2750 w driver. Okay glide or turbo? This excludes the Pro-trans as I will use that with the good motor. Just wanna get some seat time right now. Thanks for your ideas.Al

I believe that the choice depends on usage and vehicle weight in general cars weighing over 3000 # could be quicker with the lower first gear of the turbo but the turbo weighs more and has more rotating weight so for the your car weight the glide will be as quick or quicker and more consistent it’s also a simpler transmission.
I would however use a converter modified with a bushing installed for a turbo input shaft they are stronger and have better fluid flow than the power glide design or a bushed pump to using a turbo input shaft.

(That my 2 cents worth and of course ...............I could be wrong)

My personal observations on this, took my turbo out,2.45-1.52-1.1 ratios, put in my glide 2.08 first. Car slowed one tenth, looks like it would want a looser convertor with the glide as engine really lays on the convertor. MPH was the same at the stripe, maybe putting radials and looser convertor would get back to within 5 hun. haven't tried that yet. Joe
