Parking at Indy, question
Going to race at Indy for the first time, in a long time. Where do they usually park S/Comp and what gates do they want you to enter Tuesday to get in line?
(I know, I will be LATE! Got to work Monday so I only get to spend 6 days in the pit area ;-) Thanks, Jok |

Re: Parking at Indy, question
Is this the famous Mr Nicholson?
In the three years I raced at Indy (2002-03-04), Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, and Pro Stock Bike all pit on the left side of the track. Everyone else pits on the right side. Racers with Stk, S/Stk, etc and, say, a Comp car pit both cars on the right side (David Rampy and Eddie/Mike Smith, for example). Sportsman entrance is Gate 8. It's on the side road parralel to the track, over the railroad tracks. If you're going west on Crawfordsville Road (US 136) towards the track, you will turn left at the first redlight past the track, go 1/4 mile or so, and gate 8 is on your left.

Congrats on you first Indy. The Sportsman cars all pit on the Left/West Side of the track. and if you get there on Tuesday you aren't going to have much choice but to Park down the end near the sand track. The don't park categories together anymore at the nationals due to so theives a few years back breaking into trailers when everyone was gone. On Tuesday you will more than likely enter the Main Gate on Crawfordsville Road, They may get you to cross over the end of the track near the sand trap like they do the rest of us. But Who know what they are doing from year to year. Gate 8 is how you will come in and out of the track from day to day. They used to line us all up in the staging lanes, but last year they lined us up in the field near the main gate, Who knows what will happen this year.
