Default Maple Grove Directions

I'm hoping someone on here can help me.

I'm headed to Maple Grove for the first time this week and I'm not sure I like the directions on the tracks website. I'm always leery of following Mapquest directions with a rig. I'll be coming from Northeast Ohio, almost Erie PA and I'm wondering what's the best way to go. I took I-80 to I-476 to I-76 to go to Atco a few weeks ago and really preferred 80 over 76 even if it cost me 20 minutes. I would like to take I-80 as my primary route to Maple Grove, but I don't know the best way (given its a rig and not a car) to get down to the track when I leave 80.

Any suggestions? What is the best way to get to Maple Grove from this area?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Bob

Bob I go across I-80 cause of the high toll road rates, plus better road, anyhow I run I-80 to Rt 147 go down to 11 towards Harrisburg and run the little stretch of toll road to the Mohnton exit.

Thanks Joe.

I'm looking at Google Maps and I can't find Rt 147. I see I-80 and 11 as it runs into Harrisburg. Where do I need to look to find 147?

If you're insisting on going across 80 (personally, I hate the road but...) go to exit 212 which will be 15south. Follow it down and it'll turn into 11/15, but go to 322east and follow to 81north to 83 south and that'll take you to the PA tpke at exit 247. Take tpke to exit 298 and then 10 north. It sounds confusing but it really isn't. That's the way I go cause I'm in that area.

Forgot to say... 147 is one exit past 15 and if you follow 11 all the way down to the tpke, you'll end up going a little out of your way and getting on the tpke sooner than if you were to follow my other directions (read as: pay more toll)

John, thanks for the additional information.

Why do you hate I-80? I took it a good way to Atco a few weeks ago and it seemed like a nice of road.

It appears my other choice is the PA turnpike and aside from the tolls the road is always under construction, narrow and busy. What route do you suggest for me to get there from NE Ohio?

I hate 80 for the same reasons you hate the tpke. Strange rom you're area, your best choice is 80 though.

After you get in Maple Grove Park it's just another 5-6 miles of cow pastures

15 S turns into 11&15 S in Shamokin Dam. Take the Harrisburg exit to stay on 11&15. You'll go about 45 mins to an hour til you get to 22&322 East towards Harrisburg. Take that to 81N. You'll only go about a mile until you exit onto 83 S (right at the split). Once on 83S stay in the left lane and take 283 towards the Turnpike. If you stay on 83 South, you'll be going towards York!! Take PA turnpike E towards Philly to Exit 286. Take 2nd exit (Lesher Rd is 1st one) onto 222 (not sure if E or W but it's the first 222 exit before you go under it). Take that to the Adamstown Knauers Exit, at bottom of ramp turn right. Straight thru light at Turkey Hill, bear to right in Knauers, road is really windy. Stay straight at next intersection. Go to Maple Grove Rd and turn right. Takes you right to the track.
